Any equipment has a defined life expectancy. The life expectancy is dependent on the equipment type and technology it contains, and depending on how well equipment is looked after; its expected life can be reached or cut short. All equipment is made up of diverse parts: moving and nonmoving, active and passive. During the equipment life, these parts can fail due to tear and wear. If maintenance is not carried out on time, equipment will deteriorate to the condition when it is beyond the "economic repair," i.e., the repair costs more than the replacement. In the case, if the maintenance does not occur at all, the equipment will break and halt.
Therefore, it is extremely important to realize planned preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance, or, in other words, to fulfill the regular inspection and monitoring and, in the case of need, to repair to the operational condition. As maintenance is crucial for the equipment life and, as a result, is an important part of business running, so it cannot be ignored.
Planned preventive maintenance is the regular checking whether the parts are all right and equipment works as expected and described during the different modes of its operation and if it is necessary in order to prevent a breakdown, to adjust settings or to replace parts. Repair or, in other words, corrective maintenance is the responding to the equipment breakdown and includes the performing work required to deal with a breakdown to return the equipment to a working condition.
Prism Visual Software, Inc. has developed the computerized maintenance management software system that helps to simplify the maintenance management process. Our CMMS system is aimed at companies that specialize in field services such as route sales, delivery pre-ordered goods, equipment service, home care, and other. Though targeted primarily at business performing the field service, our computerized maintenance management software system can also be applied to other organizations such as direct store delivery (DSD), distribution of different products, third-party delivery and other.
Depending on the organization, some daily tasks are undertaken by technicians while others may be carried out by engineers or higher level personnel, such as managers and leaders of the departments. For this reason, we have designed the CMMS system, so it covers a wide range of tasks accomplished by employees from the planning, financial, technical, and logistical areas: administrative staff, managers, maintenance staff, and equipment users.
